Battlebots 2019: Team Uppercut
I was a member of the MIT Combat Robotics Club, and helped build “Uppercut,” a 250-lb robot with a (wicked, fist-shaped) vertical spinner. I manufactured a few parts for the robot using tools including a CNC mill, lathe, drill press, and more. I also joined the team at the Battlebots filming in Los Angeles, where we made it to the quarterfinals! Participating in Battlebots entailed testing the robot in the “Test Box,” competing in several matches with other Battlebots teams, making a range of repairs (involving varying degrees of improvising, and a not-insignificant amount of stress), and doing silly dances on TV. (If it looks like I was photoshopped into the group photo, it’s because I was - I arrived later than the rest of the team for filming! lol). Here’s a video of one of our matches (see me at 0:23)!
